Brokerstar - About Me
My history in poker
Hey guys Brokerstar here just thought I'd give you a little background on me and the site. I started off playing poker around five years ago and like most I was a pretty huge losing player.
After deciding that I was fed up losing I bought Super system and read everything in it on no limit holdem.
I started to easily beat all of my friends in home games and thought I was now a poker god.
I decided to take my newly found skills online and thought this is where I'd make my millions. Sadly for me I knew nothing about bankroll management and found myself sitting in NL400 games with only a $600 deposit.
I clearly remember losing $400 when I got it all in with QQ and came up against KK. I felt sick and stopped playing for a while then when I came back, took the rest of my now $200 roll and started playing NL100. You can guess what happened, I lost it all in a couple of days.
So now I felt a little upset and started to question my poker playing skills. So I then wanted to know everything I could about No limit holdem. I went and bought just about every good book that I could get my hands on and read them cover to cover. I soon started to amass a bankroll playing in the right games for my budget and basically becoming much more aware of what I was doing.
How/ why I started playing HUSNG's
It was about this time that I found out that there were a group of players online called
prop players and these guys actually got paid by the poker rooms to play poker on top of their winnings. So I joined a small euro site and started to really take off. I built my small deposit in to $20,000 playing mainly NL100 and NL200. I played a bit of NL400 too but the games were not that busy on such a small site and by this point I was nine tabling to take full advantage of the
rakeback I was getting. There were lots of rules to being a
prop player one of which was that you were not allowed to play heads up cash games (I have no idea why, you just weren't allowed). For some reason though they were happy for us to play HUSNG's and I started to play some of the bad regulars on the site in this format by goading them into the match.
How this site came to be
I wanted to do more than just play poker and saw that there were a lot of great poker training sites out there. I was a member of Stox Poker, Card Runners, HUSNG.com, as well as a member of the 2+2 poker forums.
Whilst I was a Cardrunners member I employed a coach called Alex Yen who helped me with my 6 max game and after that I enlisted the help of Cogdissonance from HUSNG.com to sharpen up my HUSNG game.
So armed with all of this infomation I set about creating this site as a free resource for up and coming poker enthusiasts to share what I know and help you too beat the low stakes games and hopefully never have to deposit another dollar again.
The site is about 18 months old now and is getting thousands of hits a month. I really wanted to start meeting and getting to know the people that were coming here and so I recently created the
Tagpoker Forums. Here I've met and coached so many low stakes players and they have all shown huge improvements in their games.
You can see the results from some of my students at the bottom of my
coaching details page.
If you want to speak to me in person then I'm always in the
Tagpoker forums so pop in and introduce yourself, it's a great bunch of guys there.
Well that's me, I hope you enjoy the site, run like god and hope to speak with many of you soon.
Good luck
